Are you going to take some time out of work and invest in your career? Are you going to meet with other groups in your field? Where do you plan on going? Want some ideas- google makerspaces-
If you get a chance hit up every Makerfaire and Makerspace you can visit in the country and you will leave exhausted, but stimulated. You will likely run into some very passionate folks who are working very hard to better their community and growing their skill sets.
If you get a chance visit Pittsburgh check out Hack PGH has some very capable resources and is now looking to provide more than just a trinket upon completion of a class. Under the leadership of a Wild Woman Welder, Bethany they are in the process of tackling community challenges under the completion of the class, they will be building ramps for area handicapped in the community.
So that sense of purpose has mobilized an energy you don't see when just a getting a class. These Wild women welders and men are now on a mission. I hope to post future pictures in future briefings of this exciting development.
Also excited to learn about Charlotte, NC is investing in a research lab to convert landfill waste into upcycled products.

What is the Maker Happen Tour?
For the past several years, I have been working with a number of makerspaces throughout the United States. I have helped them with their purpose, organizational set-up, board, finances, publicity and fundraising efforts. I have helped many sidestep potential disasters.
This blog is about my travels and will shed light on the popularity of makerspaces and how many great ones there are in this country!
Please join me for the ride.
